Being a Polyglot is not easy. Languages are constantly changing, and you have to keep yourself on top of the game. So, if either you’re on your way to becoming a multilingual person, or if you are already one.
Be aware of the language’s academy updates. Every Language has its own board of linguists that decide if a change in the language will be made, and they will publish their studies to the public, when that happens, find out.
Read and watch. The Internet is a very powerful weapon, you can find every newspaper and every article published in any language at any time plus you can also find tremendous amounts of videos on youtube. Watch movies, TV Shows, the news, and anything entertaining that, that language has to offer.
Listen to music. Every major language has music accessible from the Internet. Listen to the music, search for the lyrics, and read along. Then mark the words that you don’t know and look them up. Practice to sing along until you memorize the lyrics.
Go to Chatroulette. Yes, seriously. This is what I do. In my free time, I go to Chatroulette or Omegle and have conversations with native speakers that I have never seen before. It helps, believe me.
Talk to yourself. It’s OK. We all talk to oneself from once in a while, or all the time (in my case) but guess what? is a sign of intelligence. If you don’t have anyone to practice with, there is no other option than talking to yourself. Try to make conversation with yourself in the other language and this way you’ll find out what words you need to learn for the use of everyday life. Believe, there will be a time where you will not even notice that you’re talking to yourself in another language.
Believe me, there will be a time where you will not even notice that you’re talking to yourself in another language.
